After Cremation Ceremony list

Typical List of items needed for ceremonies after cremation (day #10 thru 13 from date of death)

Note that the list may change depending on the following. 

  • Deceased is male or female; family is North Indian, South Indian , or from other part of India 

  • After funeral ceremonies are held on day 10, 11, 12 or 13 from date of death

  • Whether son or daughter is performing the ceremonies.

  • Priest choice

  1. Flowers for pooja, a bunch

  2. Fruits, bananas

  3. Earthen diya

  4. Incense or Agarbatti

  5. Oil for diya

  6. Cotton batti for diya

  7. Tulsi  plant seeds 

  8. Rice powder, 1/2 kg

  9. Honey, small bottle

  10. White sugar, small pack

  11. Milk, small pack

  12. Sweets (mithai)

  13. Ghee, small amount

  14. Black sesame seeds (Till) 100 gms

  15. Haldi (Turmeric)

  16. Meal cooked to deceased liking 

  17. Chandan powder 

  18. Rice 

  19. Ganga jal, small amount

  20. Kumkum

  21. Pieces of wood for havan

  22. White cloth, 1 m

  23. Picture of deceased

  24. Matches

  25. Dried coconuts (4)

  26. Fresh coconuts (2)

  27. Small water bowl ( metal lota)

  28. Aluminum foil trays (4)

  29. Karfoor tablets
